Farxiga Patient Assistance Program

Medically Reviewed by Dr. Conor Sheehy, PharmD, BCPS – Last Updated: October 2025

Struggling with the high cost of your Farxiga prescription? At The Rx Advocates, we connect patients to manufacturer patient assistance programs that deliver deeper, more reliable savings than coupons or discount cards. When patients qualify for a PAP, they may pay a low, fixed monthly fee instead of the full retail price.

The Rx Advocates manage the application process and much more so you can stay on treatment without the stress of unpredictable drug costs.

What is the Farxiga Patient Assistance Program?

The Farxiga Patient Assistance Program is a manufacturer-run program that helps eligible patients get Farxiga at reduced or no cost. Unlike one-time coupons that expire or have limited redemption rules, PAPs are built to support long-term treatment for people who need ongoing therapy.

We connect patients to these manufacturer programs, prepare and submit the required paperwork, and follow up to keep enrollment active so medication supply is steady.

How to Qualify

To qualify for patient assistance programs, applicants must meet specific income and residency requirements and have a valid prescription. These criteria are set by each manufacturer to prioritize patients with financial need. Typical requirements to qualify include:

  • Individuals may qualify if they earn up to $40,000 annually
  • Couples may qualify if they earn up to $60,000 annually
  • Larger families may qualify if they earn up to $100,000 annually
  • U.S. residency and a current prescription are required

Guidelines differ by program. Contact us to review your situation and determine whether you qualify.

The Rx Advocates Can Help Reduce Farxiga Costs

The Rx Advocates work with more than 100 U.S. manufacturer patient assistance programs to help patients access brand-name medications, including Farxiga.

We are not an insurance company, coupon provider, or discount card service. Instead, we connect patients directly with manufacturer programs and handle the administrative work on their behalf. Our team gathers the documents the manufacturer requires, coordinates with your prescriber to verify therapy details, submits applications, tracks approvals, and arranges monthly refills so you receive medication on schedule.

For patients approved through a PAP, this process often means substantially lower monthly out-of-pocket costs and fewer interruptions in therapy.

Why PAPs Are Better Than Coupons

Coupons and discount cards can reduce the price at the pharmacy counter, but they often come with restrictions that limit long-term value. Patient assistance programs are designed for continuity of care and usually offer greater stability.

Disadvantages of coupons:

  • May be valid only at selected pharmacies or for limited timeframes
  • Often do not count toward insurance deductibles or out-of-pocket maximums
  • Expire, requiring constant replacement to keep savings active
  • Typically provide only short-term reductions that may not be enough for long-term therapy

Advantages of PAP through The Rx Advocates:

  • Fixed monthly fee that is predictable and not tied to retail price swings
  • Ongoing access while you continue to qualify for the program
  • Medication supplied through manufacturer channels for reliable delivery
  • Support across hundreds of brand-name prescriptions through our manufacturer relationships

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find answers to common questions about Farxiga and patient assistance programs below.

With The Rx Advocates, patients pay a fixed monthly service fee, which depends on the number of medications covered.

  • 1 Medication (Farxiga only) – $80 per month
  • 2 Medications (Farxiga + 1 other) – $90 per month
  • 3 Medications (Farxiga + 2 others) – $100 per month
  • 4+ Medications – $110 per month

Importantly, there are no hidden fees, and prices remain consistent even if retail costs fluctuate.

Currently, the retail cost for a 30-day supply of Farxiga was roughly $708.22. Actual retail prices vary by dosage, location, pharmacy, and insurance coverage, and can change over time.

Most manufacturer PAPs use income-based thresholds similar to those above. Residency and a valid prescription are also required. The Rx Advocates will review your household information and guide you through the documentation needed to apply.

We manage the full process for you: collect paperwork, coordinate with your prescriber, submit the manufacturer application, and follow up until approval. After enrollment, we track renewals and arrange monthly refills so you do not experience gaps in therapy.

About Farxiga

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is a prescription medication used primarily to help adults with type 2 diabetes improve blood sugar control when combined with diet and exercise. It is also indicated to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in certain patients and for some patients with cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga belongs to a class called SGLT2 inhibitors and works by helping the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine.

Form and dosing: Farxiga is available as 5 mg and 10 mg oral tablets, typically taken once daily in the morning with or without food. Your prescriber will determine the appropriate dose.

Common side effects: increased urination, urinary tract infections, genital yeast infections, and nausea.

Serious risks: diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney problems, dehydration, and low blood pressure.

Patients with type 1 diabetes, severe kidney disease, or those on dialysis should not take Farxiga. Always follow your prescriber’s guidance and report concerning symptoms promptly.
