Living with plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis means enduring painful, visible symptoms that affect every aspect of your life. The physical discomfort is relentless, but the financial burden of effective treatment can feel just as overwhelming. Biologic medications like Tremfya offer real relief, but with costs exceeding fourteen thousand dollars per month, many patients find themselves unable to afford the very treatment that could transform their quality of life.

The Rx Advocates is dedicated to removing the financial burden by connecting patients with Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs). These programs provide dependable, long-term savings on biologic medications like Tremfya, helping you focus on managing your condition without the worry of overwhelming costs.

What is the Cosentyx Patient Assistance Program?

Pharmaceutical companies sponsor programs for patients managing autoimmune disorders who face financial barriers. The program ensures qualifying individuals maintain consistent access to Cosentyx.

You provide your rheumatologist’s prescription and household income documentation. Our team coordinates with your doctor’s office, compiles materials, submits your application, and monitors progress until approval. Once you’re enrolled, your medication is covered.

We’re a drug advocacy service that helps people pay for expensive prescription medications. Our team works with over 100 US-based pharmaceutical manufacturers that offer patient assistance programs.

How to Qualify

The patient assistance program offers substantial savings for eligible patients with or without private health insurance. Most programs follow these income requirements:

  • Singles earning less than $40,000 annually
  • Couples with combined annual income less than $60,000
  • Larger families with annual income less than $100,000
  • Valid prescription from licensed healthcare provider

However, it’s important to note that even if you meet these guidelines, approval isn’t guaranteed. Each pharmaceutical company has its own program guidelines. Contact us today to find out if you qualify.

Why Patient Assistance Programs Beat Coupons

While coupons can offer short-term savings, it’s crucial to be aware of their limitations. Patient assistance programs offer greater long-term savings.

Coupon limitations

  • Usage restrictions: Limited regarding where and how they can be used, valid only at certain pharmacy chains
  • Copay accumulators: Might not count toward your out-of-pocket maximum
  • Expiration dates: Cannot be used after they expire
  • Minimal impact: Savings make little difference when medication is expensive
  • In-person redemption: Must physically visit pharmacy to present coupon

PAP advantages

  • Substantial savings: Offer consistent access at significantly lower out-of-pocket cost
  • Long-term solution: More sustainable than temporary coupons
  • Home delivery: Medications delivered with no extra cost for refills
  • Comprehensive support: We handle applications and ongoing management

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions about Cosentyx and patient assistance programs.

With The Rx Advocates, patients pay a fixed monthly service fee, which depends on the number of medications covered.

  • 1 Medication (Cosentyx only) – $80 per month
  • 2 Medications (Cosentyx + 1 other) – $90 per month
  • 3 Medications (Cosentyx + 2 others) – $100 per month
  • 4+ Medications – $110 per month

Importantly, there are no hidden fees, and prices remain consistent even if retail costs fluctuate.

Without a patient assistance program, Cosentyx is expensive. Right now, Cosentyx is one of the most expensive medications on the market due to its classification as a biological medication.

Several factors influence the final price a patient may pay:

  • Dosage: Higher prescribed strengths or quantities cost more
  • Location: Prices vary by region due to healthcare and pharmacy pricing differences
  • Pharmacy: Each pharmacy sets its own retail structure, which can cause major variations
  • Insurance Coverage: Patients with commercial insurance may pay less, while those without coverage often face the full retail cost

This means that two patients could pay very different amounts for the same prescription, depending on where they live, where they buy their medication, and their insurance status.

Most patients meet the requirements when annual household income stays below $40k for individuals, $60k for couples, or $100k for larger families. Since manufacturer requirements can differ, The Rx Advocates assess each case individually to determine eligibility.

The Rx Advocates manage enrollment and monthly refills, coordinating all necessary paperwork with your prescribing physician, submitting completed applications to manufacturers, and arranging medication deliveries to prevent treatment interruptions.

About Cosentyx

Cosentyx is a drug used to treat several autoimmune disorders.

How it works: People with these autoimmune disorders have abnormally high levels of a protein called interleukin IL-17A. Cosentyx works by blocking this protein, thereby suppressing the immune system and reducing inflammation.

Administration: Administered through subcutaneous injection under the skin. It’s sold in pre-filled syringes for home use and as powder for use in clinics and hospitals. The FDA also approved it for intravenous use in October 2023.

Side effects:

  • Common: Injection site reactions, upper respiratory infections, runny nose, diarrhea
  • Serious: Serious allergic reactions, infections including tuberculosis, severe eczematous eruptions, inflammatory bowel disease

Important warnings: While Cosentyx is generally well tolerated, some serious side effects can occur. Because it suppresses the immune system, infections are a significant risk. Seek emergency care if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of face or throat, severe cough, or symptoms of serious infection.
