Are the high costs of Xarelto putting a strain on your budget? While Xarelto is a crucial medication for treating and preventing a blood clot, its price makes it difficult for many to obtain. Xarelto coupons, savings cards, and discount plans can offer some relief, but they are often not enough to make the medication affordable. Americans who take Xarelto or other expensive drugs but lack adequate health insurance are under the most financial strain. Some even skip their medication because they can’t afford it.

At The Rx Advocates, we believe that everyone should have access to quality health care and prescription medications, which is why we help people like you access the Xarelto patient assistance program. This program provides long-term savings and peace of mind, allowing you to take your next dose without worrying about the cost.

Access the Xarelto patient assistance program with The Rx Advocates

Looking for ways to access your monthly Xarelto at an affordable rate? The Rx Advocates is a prescription advocacy service that links people to the Xarelto patient assistance program. If you are taking other drugs, we can help you with those too! Many pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs that decrease your out-of-pocket costs.

Patients who use The Rx Advocates pay a fixed service fee of just $80-$110 per month depending on how many medications they receive. Even if the retail price of Xarelto goes up, you won’t have to worry because our fees never change. There are no additional costs or hidden charges, and we can even arrange for refills at no extra cost to you! Prescriptions can be delivered to your house, saving you the time and money required to go to the pharmacy.

Here’s how it works:

  • 1 Medication (Xarelto only) – Fixed cost of $80 per month
  • 2 Medications (Xarelto + 1 other) – Fixed cost of $90 per month
  • 3 Medications (Xarelto + 2 others) – Fixed cost of $100 per month
  • 4+ Medications – Fixed cost of $110 per month

The Rx Advocates is not a Xarelto coupon provider, insurance plan, or discount card. When people work with us, they benefit from our knowledge of navigating patient assistance program applications. We complete the application on your behalf, protecting you from the stress of the application process.

Xarelto coupon limitations

Xarelto coupons may seem like a quick and easy solution for reducing the cost of your medication, but they come with many limitations. For those who take Xarelto, which is typically used long-term, a coupon is not a dependable solution. Here are some potential drawbacks you should consider:

  • Xarelto coupons may come with restrictions, such as a limit on the number of times they can be used or a discount cap.
  • A coupon provides only short-term savings. The Xarelto patient assistance program offers a more comprehensive and long-term solution.
  • Due to a copay accumulator attached to your insurance plan, a coupon might not count toward your out-of-pocket maximum. This means you may still have to pay a significant portion of the cost out of pocket.
  • Coupons must be periodically renewed, which can be a time-consuming and confusing process.
  • Xarelto coupons have a limited scope of use. Some are valid only at specific pharmacies.
  • Some coupons have eligibility requirements. Depending on your insurance plan or income status, you may not qualify to use them.
  • Coupons become invalid beyond their expiration dates.

The cost of Xarelto without a coupon

As of December 2024, the average retail Xarelto cost is $663.00.

Xarelto’s price varies based on several factors:

  • Whether the patient has health insurance that covers prescription medications
  • What pharmacy the patient uses
  • Where the patient lives
  • The prescribed dose of Xarelto

The financial challenges of high medication costs can be overwhelming. Our team at The Rx Advocates understands your financial situation, and we want to help you find a solution. We are skilled at completing applications for patient assistance programs, which grant consistent access to prescription drugs at a fraction of the cost.

Xarelto uses, adverse effects, alternatives, and other FAQs

Xarelto, generic name rivaroxaban, is primarily used to help prevent and treat blood clots. Generally known as an anticoagulant medicine, it is used to prevent clots following hip, knee, or any long bone surgery and in people at high risk of developing clots, such as those with atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, or peripheral artery disease; those bedridden at the hospital; and those with a history of clots.

Atrial fibrillation is a type of arrhythmia (i.e., irregular heartbeat) that interferes with blood flow through the heart, causing blood to pool in the heart’s upper chambers (the heart has four chambers—two upper and two lower). Blood stagnation in one area creates the perfect environment for the formation of blood clots, which then travel to other parts of the body. If they reach the lungs or brain, they can cause pulmonary embolism or stroke, which can be life-threatening. Xarelto slows the formation of clots by blocking the blood’s normal clotting process.

Xarelto is also used to treat venous thromboembolism. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein, usually in the lower extremities but sometimes in an arm. This can be a very dangerous situation.

Always consult your doctor before starting any new treatment because some medications are not suitable for everyone.

Some people should not take Xarelto. It is contraindicated for use in people with:

  • An artificial heart valve
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • History of hypersensitivity to medications
  • Plans to become pregnant (or in those already pregnant)
  • A recent history of spinal or epidural anesthesia
  • Liver problems
  • Triple-positive antiphospholipid syndrome (APS)

People who take Xarelto are at risk of developing adverse effects, though these are usually mild and do not require medical attention. Depending on your situation, your healthcare provider may decrease your dose of Xarelto to minimize these effects.

Here are some common adverse effects of Xarelto:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Bloody stools
  • Coughing up blood
  • Increased menstrual flow
  • Nose bleeds
  • Numbness in extremities
  • Back pain
  • Red or dark brown urine
  • Prolonged bleeding from cuts

Xarelto can also cause serious adverse effects:

  • Because it is an anticoagulant medicine, people who take Xarelto are at risk of bleeding. Depending on the location of the bleeding, symptoms can be fatal. Especially dangerous are bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract (which can cause vomiting of bright red blood, dark or bright red bloody stools, severe abdominal cramps, a pale appearance, or fainting) and brain hemorrhage (which can cause severe headache, stiff neck, dizziness, confusion, numbness of the face, or projectile vomiting).
  • Xarelto can increase the risk of developing a spinal or epidural hematoma, which is a collection of blood that can compress the spinal cord. People scheduled for a spinal procedure or epidural anesthesia should consult with their doctor before taking Xarelto.
  • Severe allergic reactions—such as rash, difficulty breathing, and sudden swelling of the throat, tongue, lips, or face—can occur.

Anticoagulant drugs come in the form of oral tablets, like Xarelto, or injectable or intravenous medicines. You can discuss with your doctor which administration mode is best for you. For those unable to take Xarelto, the following are some alternatives to consider:
