Tresiba coupon, discounts, & patient assistance FAQ's
Tresiba (insulin degludec injection) is available as a vial or an insulin pen.
The 100 unit/mL Tresiba pen contains 300 total units. It can deliver a maximum dose of 80 units per injection. Patients who need higher doses should be prescribed Tresiba 200 units/mL, which can deliver up to 160 units in a single injection.
Tresiba 100 units/mL is also available as a 10 mL vial.
Tresiba can treat people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is an ultra long acting insulin that lasts for up to 40 hours. However, Tresiba should be taken once every 24 hours or as directed by your physician.
Tresiba and other insulin products regulate glucose metabolism by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake and by inhibiting hepatic glucose production.
People who are allergic to insulin degludec should not take Tresiba. People having an episode of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or diabetic ketoacidosis (a medical emergency) should not take this medication. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
We do not offer coupons, however, we feel it is important to explain how coupons work. When people are prescribed this medication, many will get online and search the Internet for a coupon to help save them money on this expensive prescription. Coupons do not always offer the savings that will make a difference.
Tresiba coupons may help save people some money but they still leave people paying hundreds of dollars or more out of pocket each month.
Prescription Drug coupons are also called the following: copay cards, copay coupons, copay assistance programs, and pharmacy coupons. Prescription drug coupons represent a program that has been funded by the pharmaceutical company that helps to lower the out-of-pocket expenses for patients. This may sound good, however, there are limitations to these prescription drug coupons such as:
- Coupons are usually for only a limited amount of time. They may help patients obtain their prescription at a significantly lower price to start with but these savings may not last long term. Some coupons are only for the first month’s supply and they do not cover the subsequent months that are needed for patients.
- Coupons cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare and Medicaid programs.
