Pristiq coupon, discounts, & patient assistance FAQ's

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine extended-release) tablets are prescribed to treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). It is in a class of drugs called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). SNRIs work on the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain.

A neurotransmitter is a chemical messenger that delivers a signal from a nerve cell to a target cell. A target cell could be in a muscle or another nerve. When the neurotransmitter attaches to the target cell it sends an electrical signal. If the neurotransmitter does not connect with the target cell it goes back to the first nerve cell. This process is called reuptake.

Serotonin and norepinephrine are neurotransmitters that affect a person’s mood and emotions. SNRIs like Pristiq increase the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine by blocking their reuptake by nerves. This is how SNRIs help treat depression symptoms.

MDD is a mood disorder. It affects how people think and feel. It also impacts their daily activities like working, sleeping, and eating. To be diagnosed, a person has to have symptoms most of the day for at least two weeks.

Risk factors for MDD include a family history of the disease, trauma, high stress, and major life changes can also be risk factors. This disorder can also occur with other illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

There are other SNRIs that are FDA approved to treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), they include:

Many people may feel that they cannot afford Pristiq without a coupon because it is expensive. The Rx Advocates do not issue coupons, but we want people to know how prescription drug coupons work. There are coupons available for Pristiq.

This is a large amount of savings compared to the retail price, but it is still expensive. Often prescription drug coupons are only good for one use. There are some coupons that can be used for more than one month, but they still have limits to the number of times they can be used. Afterward, the patient must pay the higher retail cost.
