Flovent Prescription Discounts:
Frequently Asked Questions
Flovent (fluticasone propionate inhalation aerosol) and Flovent Diskus (fluticasone propionate inhalation powder) are prescription medications used to treat asthma in patients 4 years and older. Flovent HFA and Flovent Diskus are two different types of inhalers that treat the same conditions.
Flovent is a maintenance medication that helps to prevent acute symptoms of asthma and prevents the need for a rescue inhaler. Flovent does not treat sudden breathing problems caused by asthma and is not a rescue inhaler, which should be prescribed separately by the doctor.
The average retail cost of Flovent HFA is dependent on the following factors:
- The dosage amount prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- The location of the patient.
- The location of the pharmacy.
- Whether the patient has health insurance or not.
As of March 2021, patients can expect to pay between $300-$400 for this prescription medication.
The Rx Advocates do not offer our patients coupons but we still feel it is important for people to understand how coupons work. When people are prescribed Flovent, they may get online and search for a coupon and understandably so because this medication is expensive to pay for out of pocket. However, people soon find out that these coupons do not offer savings that can really make a big difference.
Flovent coupons may save people some money but still leave patients paying a large amount out of pocket. For example, as of March 2021, a person who receives a Rite Aid coupon may still pay as much as $263.69. The retail price for Flovent at Rite Aid is $340.00 so that is only a 22% savings.
Prescription drug coupons also go by the following names: copay cards, copay coupons, copay assistance programs, and pharmacy coupons. These cards represent a program that has been funded by the pharmaceutical company to help reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients. This may sound great, however, it is important to know that these coupons have the following limitations:
- Coupons are only for a limited time. They help patients get started on their prescription medication at a significantly reduced cost; however, the savings do not continue for long.
- There are some coupons that are only for the first month’s supply of medication. These coupons do not help with subsequent months.
- Patients will need to go to the store to present their coupons to the pharmacist and pick up their medication.
Prescription discount cards permit patients to obtain lower drug costs for their prescriptions. They are the most beneficial for people who have to pay cash for their medications. These cards are free to obtain and are available for people with or without health insurance.
Several savings programs negotiate drug discounts on medications like Flovent. Patients are able to obtain those lower prices through prescription discount cards.
