Chantix coupon, discounts, & patient assistance FAQ's

Chantix (varenicline) is a medication that is used to help people stop smoking. This medication is used along with tobacco cessation counseling and education.

Chantix is available in tablet form. Chantix is supplied in a dose back that helps you slowly increase the dosage. The starting dose is 0.5 mg once daily for three days, then 0.5 mg twice daily for four days, and then 1 mg twice daily.

Chantix is taken for at least three months, but your doctor may decide to increase the length of therapy to six months.

People with the following conditions should speak with their doctor before starting Chantix:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Depression
  • Severe renal impairment

Chantix should not be mixed with alcohol.

Chantix has rarely been known to cause sleepwalking, including harming oneself, others, or property.

Here are a few alternatives for people who cannot take Chantix:

  • Zyban (Bupropion)
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), including nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges
The Rx Advocates do not offer coupons. We still want people to understand how coupons work. When people consider going on a monthly prescription medication, the first thing many people will do is check the Internet for coupons because prescription medications can be very expensive. What they need to understand is that coupons do not offer the type of ongoing savings that they will need from month to month. Chantix coupons may help people save some money but still leaves them paying hundreds of dollars each month.

Prescription drug coupons are also called copay cards, copay coupons, copay assistance programs, and pharmacy coupons. Prescription drug coupons represent a program that is funded by the pharmaceutical company to help lower the amount of money people have to pay for their prescriptions. However, these coupons have limitations such as:

  • Coupons are usually good for only a limited time. They may help patients to get started on their medication at a lower cost but the savings do not last.
  • Coupons do not cover subsequent prescriptions.
  • Patients will need to leave their house to go to the pharmacy to present their coupons and pick up their prescriptions themselves rather than having them mailed to them.
