The limitations of a Brilinta Coupon

There are several reasons why a Brilinta coupon may not be the best long-term option for saving money on your prescription medication. Here are three key things to consider:

Limited duration: Brilinta coupons may only be available for a limited time, meaning you’ll need to find a new coupon or pay full price once the offer expires.

Limited coverage: Some Brilinta coupons may only cover a portion of the cost, leaving you with a significant out-of-pocket expense.

Limited availability: Brilinta coupons may not be available to all patients or may only apply to a specific number of refills, making it challenging to obtain the savings you need over the long term.

In contrast, patient assistance programs can provide more substantial savings over the long term, with no expiration date or limitations on coverage. The Rx Advocates provides access to these programs for more than 800 FDA-approved medications, including Brilinta. Brilinta coupon & patient assistance FAQ's

Brilinta is a medication for adults who have had a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or acute coronary syndrome. It is used to help prevent cardiovascular events from occurring, including another heart attack, a stroke, and cardiovascular death. Brilinta can also be used in people who have received stents to reduce the risk of clots.

Brilinta works similar to aspirin by helping to prevent platelets from reacting and forming new clots, Brilinta must be taken along with aspirin 75-100 mg daily. Doses of aspirin greater than 100 mg decrease the effectiveness of Brilinta.

Patients who suffered a heart attack 12 months ago or less should take 90 mg twice daily plus 81 mg aspirin. Patients who suffered a heart attack more than 12 months ago should take 60 mg twice daily plus 81 mg aspirin.

The following is important safety information for people considering taking this medication:

  • Do not stop taking Brilinta without consulting with the doctor who prescribed it.
  • If you have been treated with a stent, stopping Brilinta too soon increases your risk of cardiovascular events like heart attack
  • Do not stop Brilinta because of bleeding side effects without talking with your doctor first.
  • Tell your doctor, dentists, and other medical professionals that you are taking Brilinta.
  • Take aspirin and Brilinta exactly how your doctor has prescribed it.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking other medications that contain aspirin or other NSAID medications like ibuprofen and naproxen.

There are a few alternatives that are FDA-approved that will help prevent another heart attack:

The Rx Advocates do not offer coupons. We still want you to know how coupons work. When people are prescribed Brilinta, they may search on the Internet for a coupon to help them pay any out-of-pocket expenses for this medication. Most people cannot afford this monthly prescription medication. They find out quickly that coupons do not offer the kind of savings needed and they do not make that much of a difference in the cost.

Brilinta coupons may save people some money, but they leave people still paying hundreds or more out of pocket.

Prescription drug coupons are also called the following: copay cards, copay coupons, copay assistance programs, and pharmacy coupons. Prescription drug coupons represent programs that have been funded by pharmaceutical companies to help lower the amount of money patients pay out of pocket for their prescriptions. While this sounds like a good idea, these coupons often have the following limitations:

  • Coupons are only for a certain amount of time. They help patients get started on their medication at a lower cost but the savings do not continue.
  • Most coupons do not cover subsequent months, they only help lower the cost for the first month supply.
  • Patients will need to go to the pharmacy to present their coupons.

Copay assistance programs help people to pay the cost of their copay for prescriptions for those who have health insurance. These programs are not for patients who would have to pay out of pocket for their medications.

There are many brand-name medications that offer this type of assistance as a way to encourage providers and patients to choose them over their generic version. Here is an example of how copay assistance programs work: A patient may have a choice between an $800 brand name medication and an $80 generic medication. Under their insurance plan, their copay may be $30 for either choice. However, with the copay assistance program, the pharmaceutical company makes much more money when they choose the brand-name drug. So why not go with the brand-name drug? So the patient gets their copay paid and the health insurance company still has to pay the remaining.
