Lupus attacked your body relentlessly. Crippling joint pain made simple tasks impossible. Crushing fatigue left you bedridden for days. Kidney inflammation threatened organ failure. After years cycling through failed treatments, your rheumatologist recommended Benlysta infusions. Within months, the disease quieted. You reclaimed your life. Then your insurance denied coverage, leaving you staring at treatment costs higher than your mortgage.

The team at The Rx Advocates helps lupus patients access Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) that price Benlysta based on what you earn, not what infusion centers charge.

What is the Benlysta Patient Assistance Program?

Drug companies fund programs for people fighting autoimmune diseases who can’t pay full price for biologic treatments. When approved, you’ll get Benlysta at costs far below what medical facilities charge, so money doesn’t force you to stop treatment and watch lupus destroy your body again.

Here’s how it works: You provide your prescription and proof of income. We handle everything else – building your application, working with your rheumatologist’s office, filing with the manufacturer, tracking approval. Once you’re in, you get Benlysta infusions at your treatment center as scheduled.

We’re patient advocates who connect people with lupus to programs that base medication costs on financial reality instead of market pricing.

How to Qualify

Companies check several things when deciding who gets approved. Your chances improve when you meet these income levels:

  • Singles earning less than $40,000 yearly
  • Couples making under $60,000 combined per year
  • Families of three or more with income below $100,000 annually
  • Active prescription from your rheumatologist

Income alone won’t get you approved. Each company has other specific requirements they evaluate. Every situation needs individual review. Get in touch with our advocates to learn if you’re eligible.

The Rx Advocates Can Help Reduce Benlysta Costs

What we charge stays the same even when Benlysta prices climb. Your fee depends only on how many medications you need help with:

  • 1 medication: $80 per month
  • 2 medications: $90 per month
  • 3 medications: $100 per month
  • 4+ medications: $110 per month

Lupus requires consistent biologic therapy to stay controlled. Our service helps patients dealing with insurance that denies coverage for biologics, deductibles so high they’re useless, or disability payments that don’t stretch far enough for expensive treatments.

We’re not in the coupon business. What we do is handle enrollment for programs that keep expensive medications accessible at prices patients can actually afford.

Why Patient Assistance Programs Beat Coupons

Coupons might help once or twice. Programs keep costs manageable long-term.

Coupon limitations

  • Pharmacy restrictions: Only valid certain places
  • Copay accumulators: Savings don’t count toward deductibles
  • Expiration dates: Stop working fast
  • Coverage gaps: Don’t help enough with biologics

PAP advantages

  • Substantial savings: Much bigger discounts than coupons
  • Reliable access: Treatment continues without interruption
  • Predictable costs: You know what you’ll pay monthly
  • Convenient coordination: Works with your infusion center

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Common questions about Benlysta and assistance programs answered below.

With The Rx Advocates, patients pay a fixed monthly service fee, which depends on the number of medications covered.

  • 1 Medication (Benlysta only) – $80 per month
  • 2 Medications (Benlysta + 1 other) – $90 per month
  • 3 Medications (Benlysta + 2 others) – $100 per month
  • 4+ Medications – $110 per month

Importantly, there are no hidden fees, and prices remain consistent even if retail costs fluctuate.

Without program help, Benlysta runs into the several thousands of dollars per month range at infusion centers. What you’d pay depends on things outside your control.

Things affecting cost:

  • Dosage: Treatment amount based on your weight
  • Location: Where you live impacts pricing
  • Facility: Different infusion centers charge different amounts
  • Insurance Coverage: Depends on your specific plan

Most programs set income limits around $40k for singles, $60k for couples, $100k for families. But that’s just the starting point – companies check other factors too. We’ll need to look at your whole situation to determine eligibility.

We handle your entire application and ongoing treatment coordination – getting documentation from your rheumatologist, filling out manufacturer forms, and making sure your infusions stay on schedule.

About Benlysta

Benlysta is belimumab, a biologic medication treating active lupus and lupus nephritis in adults and children over age 5.

How it works: Belimumab blocks a protein called B-lymphocyte stimulator that triggers overactive B cells. These B cells produce antibodies that attack your own tissues in lupus. Blocking this protein reduces disease activity.

Administration: Given as IV infusion every four weeks after three loading doses, or as weekly subcutaneous injection. Infusions take about one hour at an infusion center or doctor’s office.

Side effects:

  • Common: Nausea, diarrhea, fever, stuffy nose, sore throat, insomnia, leg or arm pain
  • Serious: Severe infections, depression, suicidal thoughts, severe allergic reactions, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy

Important warnings: Weakens immune system making infections more likely and harder to fight. Can cause severe depression and suicidal thinking. May trigger serious allergic reactions during or after infusion. Requires close monitoring throughout treatment.

Get Started Today

Uncontrolled lupus destroys organs, causes strokes, triggers kidney failure requiring dialysis, and kills through infections and cardiovascular complications. Stopping Benlysta because you can’t afford it means watching the disease ravage your body again after finally achieving remission.

Drug companies created these programs knowing lupus patients often lose jobs and insurance because the disease makes working impossible.
